Lightbulb Head Unit for Polo 9n3?

Does anyone know of a Volkswagen better quality head unit (from the Golf for example) that fits into a 2008 Polo? I'd rather use a Volkswagen product. If that's not possible, can anyone recommend another brand that fits nicely? I'd like to upgrade to one with a large screen (touch?) that plays video and has Ipod connectivity. GPS would be great if possible.

My budget would be anywhere up to 1.5K.

    Has anyone ever done it?

Any advice would be massively appreciated!

No, the Mk5 golf ones will not fit. There has been a few threads done on Polo stereos, you just need to have a look and use the search function, but check out 'Has anyone upgraded their stereo'...

Checkout the Eonon D5101, Upgraded mine and its awesome value for the price.. Has GPS/DVD/DIVX/bluetooth audio/usb/dvd mp3 playback/a million aux inputs ect... worth the $380

Sorry about the poor image quality, took this one at night, playing the ipod ova bluetooth, sound quality is fairly good.

i have been looking into this a bit as well and bang for buck you cant go past the eonon. if you want satnav there is kenwood, pioneer, alpine, jvc satnav units start at round $1300...all these satnavs are half the price in america but you wont be able to load Aust maps onto a US unit, except for kenwood which uses garmin maps...its doable but once you land it here buy the maps and hack it....also change the radio frequencies then you will be saving around $300.....its a lot of effort.

The eonon unit does everything the other units do but a 1/4 of the price...im just worried a bit about reliability Hows your unit going flat6? any dramas?

    Cheers

Since wiring up the unit properly (canbus was turning it off at first), I haven't had a single drama with it, even pulled the thing apart to see whats inside and honestly its fairly decent quality for the price.

Sound quality is quite good and better than the stock unit, with bluetooth audio you get a little interference sound at high volume but no issues with CD or usb

I loaded iGO Primo maps onto it and the unit literally rocks, better than a $1200 pioneer and has more features

There's a thread in here where I went through the whole ordeal

Interesting... I'd recommend a bit of sound deadening on the doors as well, they are well built, but the bass is nicer after treating the inner skin

All this audio talk got me interested in a new head unit. Buying a Eclipse CD5030. Looks like a good unit for the damage (about $235 delivered). I guess I should start thinking about how I'm going to wire it up. Is the stock unit worth anything?
