    Head Unit display

    Hi,

Has anyone had problems with their displays on their head unit? My unit has been intermittently not displaying any characters. As in, with the light on, the only thing I see is the blue back light. This comes and goes, and I will take it to the dealer eventually, but since its intermittent, I'm not sure how reproducible it is.

In terms of how intermittent it is, some times it will not display anything for weeks on end, then all of a sudden everything's back to normal. Sometimes it freezes, eg. it will keep displaying NOVA969 even if I change the channel or even switch the bloody thing off! Any ideas would be helpful!

    Cheers

Best thing would be to just take it back to the dealer...I have had mine lock itself a couple of times, and the dealer said if it dose it again, to take it back and they will replace the unit.

This has been a major issue for me for the last 12months. I rarely can go a day without the display either freezing on some text or showing nothing at all. I have had my car in to the dealer 4 times for them to look at it and they have not been able to fix it (miraculously works every time its there). This issue has apparently been raised with VW Head Office (or something like that) and they have recognised it as a common fault, but haven't identified a fix as yet.

Having said all this, last time my car went to the dealer they removed the HU to check the connections, and since this I have not had an issue.

I agree with Ryan, take it in to the dealer and get it on their records, so when a fix does come through you can get it repaired.

    x 2.

Only done it once, wouldn't be brave enough to do it twice. hahha. Good excuse for a nice double din, sat nav, dvd player.

Well i actually just turned the lights off and on again and it was fine. I had both issues you mention happen on the same drive. weird.
