I didnt have to use the cigarette lighter. There is an accessories wire there that switches on and off the head unit.
Thanks for all the people's help in making this possible. This started off as a budget install became aN over expenditure! HOWEVER!, it's almost done! As of today, amp and crossover and all wiring are installed I think I'll give myself a bit of a rest as the stealthy boot took the better 9 hours of today's time.......
I shall present you with S-T-E-A-L-T-H
Won't the amp get too hot being covered?
just wondering why my stock cd player cant play mp3 file cd. Mine is 06 polo gti
Thanks for answering that
anyone got the headunit pin out diagram for the standard headunit?
Has anyone had problems with installing a single din head unit like an alpine one similar to ADAMS one and had a gap between the unit and the single din pocket? I've been wanting to get one installed but have been told differently with every place I go to i.e. JB, Autobarn, and other CAMS dealers. Some say I have to fit a double din in order to ensure there's no unsightly spaces, while another says I need a fascia kit and another says that a single din with a single din pocket will work just fine and no spacing would occur. So which one is correct?
Opinions, experiences and guidance would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
One of the older (2004) Polo models had a single din stereo and pocket. I'd be getting that kit from Volkswagen.
Look at the pic of dash in this car.

The dash looks the same but it has a single din with pocket. Ring your dealer with the VIN in that ad and they should be able to find the part number and give you a quote. I'm guessing about $90
