Cool thanks guys, I was just working off the RRP's so I did not want to sound so optimistic LOL.

I will gun for under $30k because it sure seems that it's reasonable.

Which dealerships in Sydney do you recommend ?

    5 Dock

However I reckon close to work or home and trying to get to know the dealer and service manager well. Also have a think bout servicing at the dealer or specialist mechanic.

    Cheers

    Let me guess... Austral?

The lowest price they could do for me AFTER my trade was $2000 MORE than Highway Auto got mine too before they took my trade-in car.

If I remember correctly Austral said $33,500 after trade-in (with leather fitted afterwards - no seat warmers). I ended up paying $31,392 before trade in (which gave me around $1800 from memory). So I saved around $4000 by driving 30-40kms further.

NICE !!!!!!!!!! Shame that's obviously not in Sydney ..

Is the cloth interior respectable compared to leather .. I don't particularly like leather .. I'm sure it would help with re-sale later on too ... The tartan skirt look is not quite my thing ... but I guess I need to see it in the flesh before I can comment ..

Guys, I have signed up for a Ralliart Colt.

Guess it was right place right time and the price was good. I suprised myself by not even test driving the Polo before I got the RColt.

Hope I have made the right decision.

What did put me off the GTi was the 'problems you've experienced' thread. I know it is only a small number of owners that have had the problems but I am not so keen to have my car in the workshop constantly to get things sorted out - I had experienced that enough with my Renault Sport Clio ... the stories in the thread was purely dejavu.

The GTi/Colt was never going to really be an upgrade from the Clio - driving wise. After a test drive of the RColt, this was confirmed. The Clio is just gives a raw as balls drive and it is just that much better - though a new car with 5/10 yr warranty, turbo and a pair of recaros comes mighty close.

Great site - you guys have been helpful - I will be lurking around.

    Cheers guys.
