    Gti bonnet release cable

Um, so the release cable has just gone slack. It's still connected at the release lever end and is being pushed, pulled ok. Anyone got any killer ideas for getting into the engine bay to manually release the bonnet mechanism?

Happily solved. I got under the car this morning pulled the belly cover off and poked around. I could see much even with a torch, so I jammed the Gopro in the engine bay with some LED lights and watched remotely on an Ipad. Turns out the cable had become disconnected from the mechanism, but was otherwise fine. After some groping around in the dark(pays to have small hands ) I managed to get it reconnected enough so my partner could pull the release. Once inside I could reconnect the cable properly. Nothing broken, and it wouldn't come off with tugging or twisting. So, that's it. Otherwise the mechanism could be manipulated from underneath, but it'd be difficult. I do note there's a series of holes aligned from the mechanism through to the top gap in VW badge, but I'm reluctant to go fishing at the moment. Just happy it was resolved without cutting tools!
