GT28 whats needed
Hey everyone i know u need a new manifold etc for a gt28 onto the polo but what else is required? Ive heard that i couldnt use the APR flash as APR doesnt have software done for the GT range yet so does this mean i would have to go standalone ecu and if so any recommendetions? I know motec microtech etc but dont know any reputations besides motec being about as good as u can get but outa my price range.
So just any thought on this would be great, it isnt a soon to be done mod just one in the pipeline i want to do right the first time.

There is no need to have standalone to do this. The benefit of standalone is that there are more places to get it set up. There is no other benefit.
There are plenty of tuners that have fitted GT28s on other VWs with the standard ECU, the software has to be available somewhere.
Custom-code for example has a Skoda with 500 odd HP using a std ECU, of course you need bigger injectors etc but the point is the ECU is more than capable.
I would be looking for a tuner that already does a GT28 conversion on a MK4 Golf and asking them what they can do for you. If you were in Adelaide I'd be offering to help you out but the distance can be a big handicap when it comes to tuning a car!!
Have you also thought about brakes and stuff too. I would think a front mount would be essential as well.

APR stage 3 or stage 3+ kit for polo is not a problem (read Kit - not a DIY put it together yourself).
What you do need to consider is:
Drive train strength
Intercooler
Air intake
Brakes
decent budget
