Golf MKIV brakes on a Polo

Are MKIV wheels the same stud pattern as a Polo? If yes, then the ECS Tuning brake upgrade kit for the MKIV Golf should fit the Polo.

So is it possible to have the Porsche brakes on the Polo GTI using the same kit made for the Golf?

I have seen a few of these kits and some only sell the caliper adapters so you can source the calipers from wreckers or from Porsche.

The kit can be seen here:

Be careful, I found that TT caliper carriers do not fit Polo calipers. You will not be able to buy their base OEM big brake upgrade kit to fit the Polo.

I was contemplating on getting Polo GTI brakes for my Polo. However I ran into the problem of not being able to have them fit under the BBS rims I'm using at the moment. Several sources have told me that to run anything any form of larger brakes, the safest minimum size rims you'll need are 17".

Check if EBC or other after market companies make decent brakepads for your Polo and also, Martini brake fluid helps!

The ECS Tuning website states what is minimum size rims you will need for the upgrade.

Thanks Sharkie but I am not after Audi calipers. Im not sure how your statement on TT calipers relates to the Porsche upgrade I am looking at.
Perhaps you can explain further?? Thanks in advance.

ECSTuning sells an OEM big brake upgrade for USD340. This includes discs, 312mm and Audi TT carriers. This kit will not fit a Polo GTI as the TT carriers cannot fit GTI calipers.

Also shipping is USD300, making this an expensive proposition.

The kit you are looking at requires 17" wheels and will likely cost well over AUD2000 landed here. Not worth it IMO. For that money I'd rather go Alcons or Brembos. Many Porsche owners upgrade their brakes to Alcons or Brembo as it is better than standard .... Will likely cost the same in the end. Talk to APR as they have extensive experience upgrading Polo GTI brakes.....

I have now found that Martini fluid and EBC Yellow pads provide more braking than what my stock Contis can handle on the track. For a more aggresive look I'd change the stock discs to slotted x drilled, but bigger better brakes are now off my agenda as I do not see any more benefit to be had for the money required.

What size are your rims? The GTI comes with 16's so you'd only need 16's.

    My BBS's are 15's off a MkIII VR6.

Steve - do you have a photo of the 9n3 Polo GTI brakes fitting under the BBS's? I was told by two dub mechanics that they were certain there wouldnt be sufficient clearance room for the brakes under my 15's.
