Which was you going? I did mostly Pacific ferrys but did do one BE55 in the mid 80's Zimbabwe, Dar Es Salaam, Male, Medan, Bali, DRW, SYD.

Had an interesting encounter with a US Navy F14 off a carrier somewhere west of Male that came up close and had a look at me. Scared the crap out of me.

Are there any actual performance shops in Jberg? I will be there in 4 weeks and my fiance tells me everything is pretty cheap

For styling bits go to an Autostyle outlet. Lots of VW cosmetic bits : Autostyle sells wheels, tyres and mags nationwide!

For the best and quickest details on actual performance bits, pick up the local CAR magazine at Jhb airport. It has about 30 pages of classified adds (not small adds either) at the back with contact details and locations of tuners etc. Their car tests I have also regarded as far superior to the local Wheels and Motor's tests, but haven't seen 1 for years now, so things may have changed.

The VAG scene is big in South Africa and all kinds of bits are plentiful ..... BTW, 9N3 Polos are still built there, with a slightly modernised face, so parts for ours will be available for a long time ..... The 9N3 based Polo Vivo replaced the MK1 Golf after 30years in production .... Polo Vivo Hatch < Models < Volkswagen South Africa

Next year, when I go over I may bring back an entire new nose .....

Thanks for the link, yeah I thought there was a big presence in SA and could bring something back. We'll see

The 6R guys won't agree but I think it's a nicer looking car than what we get now
The GT model looks particularly clean.
