    Gearbox Mount - GTI

    Anyone know of a tough one at all?

    Mines gone all 'soft' according to the dealer.

    Do I let them use a genuine, or is there anything better available?

    Any help, much appreciated as always.

    Vibratechnics makes uprated engine mounts (both of them) for Polo Gti - but they aren't cheap:

    Engine side mount VAG210M = £148.00 + VAT
    Gearbox side Mount VAG200M = £200 + VAT

    these are the prices that I got from them about a year ago.

    Stuart, here's the go, works well, me like, but I have had to replace the the small end rubber bush, mainly because I give it a hard time.

    Theres the two main engine ones East & West & then there's the gear box one, I suppose you could call No.3.
    I changed the main ones also but it was a waste of time & $'s, but I like the look of the above, so me ordered.

    Well, my gearbox has been out twice at the dealers, and yet it STILL has a vibe that I could only describe as being intensely harsh. If it were in one of the Minis at home, i'd have the gearbox out looking for something really wrong.

    This vibe resonates through the whole car, you feel it through your feet on the floor, and your bum through the seats. Its horrible. Add to that some really excessive gear whine and you get the picture.

    Dealer states that after a new lay shaft, first gear, and various bearings that this is just not possible.

    I call BS.

    They have suggested that my gearbox mount is "very soft" and have offered me a new OEM part, or a they'll fit a tough one if i'm willing to foot the bill.

    I still can't see this fixing a noise that gets worse as the gearbox gets warm.

    <edit>

    Eddy, the 'dogbone' mount you speak of, do you mean the lower engine steady? I've already changed that to a Super Pro stret mount.
