    Gear shift Knob

New Polo GTI from 2 days ago and I want to replace the gear shift knob.

My suspicion is that the standard one screws off, but I don't want to force the issue.

Anyone know how to get the standard one off?

If it screws off - clockwise or anti?

the gear knob is held on by a clamp under the top of the boot you cant just unscrew it.
you need to lift the boot out of the console, to do this carefully lift the front of the boot together with the surroung that holds the boot in the console, its made of very flimsy plastic and will brake if you get to rough. get your fingers inbetween the console and the boot and lift it back towards the rear of the car and up at the same time, should just pop up. be gentle

it isnt hard you just need to be careful, you can also remove the console it just clips in place with only 2 security screws attaching it at under the rubber mat in front of the gear shifter. undo these and you can lift the front section of the console up, then lift the rear section up but not totally over the handbrake this will allow you to remove the console front section up enough to get access to the clamp under the gear knob
