    That's half what you said.

I don't know why the quotes would be so different.
    No,you're wrong
Timbo is right.I'm insured with AAMI for around $740 with a large excess.
Mind you,my age may have something to do with it.....

    What is your 'large excess'?

I've got the policy on my desk and it shows an excess no bigger than any other insurance company. And who cares about the excess anyway, don't crash and you don't pay. It's cheaper than most crashes or buying a new car if yours is stolen.

The quotes I gave were all the standard excesses.

As long as you state that, then we know

BTW, just be aware that, apart from the obvious, the premium reducing excesses become a problem when you have one of those accidents where you are not at fault, but either the other party can't be identified or is uninsured

My excess is $2050.AAMI have a scale of increased excesses over the standard $500 that reduce your premium.I am on the maximum excess, which reduces my premium by about another 30% or so from my normal NCB.
It used to reduce by 50% but they changed that.
As I've never had an accident that was my fault[touch wood] it's a risk I'm prepared to take.
When you get a quote on line,at the end it asks you "would you like to reduce your premium?"and offers the increased excess option.
Total premium is $756 for $26400 cover on a 2005 GTI.
