    funny steering wheel noises

my Polo developed a funny steering sound on the last cruise on sunday.
whenever i turn my wheel it sounds like sandpaped rubbing slowly against metal..
any ideas as to what the problem may be? any help would be fantastic!

theres no extra play in the steering column it is as normal and there are no bearings on the floor

any other ideas? does it need a lube up?

u could try some lube spray from underneith where the bearing is or from the top but u have to remove steering wheel airbag if it has one but make sure you mark the steering wheel before removing so you get the same exact spot or will be offcentre

    Noise

Check the horn contact (metal tang) that rubs against steering wheel/slip ring.
Just use two small screw drivers to release the tension just enough so not to loose contact with tang. Could also try to lube with light grease.

Mine makes gurgling cat noises every now and then.

I'm just going to leave it until it breaks so I won't get told there is nothing wrong with it.
