I cant run it in my other cars. Doubt you can in a chipped polo. Most probaly can in a stock one.

If it pings. Get octane booster. And keep putting fuel in whenever you see a servo. Till it evens itself out.

    my thoughts
all these figures are pulled form the air but i think will give my opinion.

Normal Fuel - 400km from 40l of fuel at $1.60 (for aurguemnts sake) is 6.25km per dollar

E85 gets roughly 30% less km a tank (i heard yesterday) lets make it 25% for this arguement.

E85 - 300km from 40l of fuel at $1.40 (for aurguemnts sake) is 5.35km per dollar.

Does this make sense or am i on another planet.

But finacially although you pay less at the station each time you fill up you have to fill up more often.

Using e85 in a current Polo (any Polo) will void your warranty. I posted a letter up from VWA here a while ago stating exactly that. Do a search.

They do not recommend anything with more than 10% ethanol in it as it will damage your engine.

The also state that unless you use premium (and they identified 98 as premium to them) your warranty will be void. So even 95 is not good enough.

Use anything less than 98 at your own peril....

the only reason to use ethanol 85 is if your a greeny, since it is renewable and less damaging to the environment. the reason you get less mileage is that ethanol contains less chemical energy than petrol. so you also get less performance.

Sorry sharkie, In my 2008 polo GTI it states in the manual and on the fuel cap that 95 is to be used, 91 will ping until the computer gets used to it.

VWA wouldnt want to void my warranty,

    Post possibly not helpful but....

    Cheers
