That around 10L/100km, too - I think the consumption drops a LOT doing freeway work, perhaps more than most cars. I think the 1.8T might be a bit thirsty when you open up the throttle (ie if you're driving hard or accelerating in stop-start conditions).

Mines got 1050kms on the clock...

Doing 35-37kms from Park Ridge(pretty out there) to Milton(Brisbane CBD) at 5am. Average 7.4L/100kms

    Sure beats a WRX!!!

    Rocket GTI fuel consumption

I average close to 400km going by odo, using 31-33 liter's of 98 octane. my Polo GTI is APR'ed as well, and now has 12000+km and I do not drive for economy.

I'll certainly say it here today after taking the APR/Oetteger chip for a 6 hour trial run.

I may not be able to drive it hard enough with a relatively new car however, I only managed approx 11L/100kms and I was giving a*seholes. Compare this to a WRX or similar and you'll know how awesome this is.

I shudder to think the amazing economy when being nice.

I'm, using mostly vortex 98 from caltex. Mostly highway driving gold coast to robina and Im struggling to get 520 out of a tank and averaging about 8.5 per 100km.

I even did a straight trip gold coast to port macquarie when I first got it and it only got 520 out of the tank.

I cant get anywhere near 600 km's which people are quoting even when driving in a long stretch. Even my dealer said it was not right.

I dont drive it hard and its a brand new 07 model.

I tried different fuels and same result.

I am going to report it again as they reckon nothing is wrong with it when i reported it first time

Also this per tank thing I am going off is when the distance to empty tells me theres no km's left so maybe this faulty

Example, yesterday it said it had 0 km's left but when i filled up I got only 42 litres in there so there was still 3 litres left..

How well does everyone elses distance to empty work?

I got 6.6L/100km driving very gently along the freeway today. Driving through town it usually sits around 7.0L/100km. I find weight has a lot to do with it, if I have 4 people in the car the fuel consumption gets to 10+L/100km and performance really drops.
