Yes, 6 for 5th gear at <2000 rpm, say, around 90kmph.

16 is what it stays in my local suburbs. You know why...

Was tongue in cheek. Always interested to see how the diesel consumption compares.

In the 118tsi the best thus far has been around 5.8 l/100km.

Averager consumption for me is 9.16. Hit 10 trips to the bowser with the following as the consumptions along the way:

    9.46 l/100 km
    8.72 l/100 km
    9.21 l/100 km
    9.12 l/100 km
    8.87 l/100 km
    8.97 l/100 km
    9.86 l/100 km
    9.19 l/100 km
    9.30 l/100 km
    9.01 l/100 km

Pretty much consistently 16km each ways Mon-Friday trips. Sitting in traffic affects the consumption quite harshly (more than I would have expected). Average putting in around 39 litres each time and get approximately 430 km on a 'tank'. Longer drives sans traffic it easily gets into low 7s and even down to mid 6s.

Roughly halfway along there the wheels were changed to 17" Siata's with 205/45/17. Seems to have marginally increased the fuel consumption. The average with the standard GTI rims was 9.06 with the Siata rims it has been 9.34.

6-18. I can't get below 10 in suburban driving, but if you cruze 80 or 90, the gearing for 5th is spot on for good economy

The lowest I have ever seen mine was 6.2/100 in the convoy to Nats last year due to the P platters on the In the convoy on the Hume... 100 - 105km/h. I usually get around 7.5 -7.8 on the highway and 11 - 13 around town.

I've been using the aCar app for monitoring fill-ups. etc. Since I began to use it in December 2010 :

    Total Distance 8,489km
    Min L/100km 6.25
    Avg L/100km 8.68
    Max L/100km 11.35

    Min $/L $1.379
    Avg $/L $1.546
    Max $/L 1.709

^- always used 98 Octane BP as well.

Nice figures. What sort of trips does that consist of mainly?

    Edit:
    Wiki says
