Front end issue, can anyone shed some light ??

    Help Please..

Got a nice problem and help to fix

Hi all I was driving home today when all a sudden I went to hit the brakes and a massive BANG noice came from the front end, the stearing hooked.
It seemed to get worst as I drove it.
I managed to get it home and jack her up.

This is what I found –

Here is a vid - This is what was happening when I moved the wheel back and forth..

If anyone can, can you confirm that this is the lower inner control arm bush?
    Has anyone had this problem?
Also does anyone have the part number or is there an aftermarket version they could recommend?

    Any help would be appreciated,

There is lots of threads on this topic
It is a common fault, well they have wearing issues

It is the rear bushings on the control arm
PM Jmac, I PM'd him the other day, he can get different ones, not sure if they are the TT solid ones or seat bushes

    Thanks man,
The pix are from the front ones, I just need to know if they are called Lower control arm bushes or WishBone bushes.
I will ring around tomorrow to see if I can get any, they don't have to be aftermarket ones either.

Hmm depends how much you know

I have been told you need a good press to get them in, so maybe take the arms somewhere where they can press the bushes in

I will be doing it myself, you also need to torque the bolts etc

Thanks man, anyone know what the the Torque settings are.
I know enough to do it myself and have all the tools ect..., It's time that I don't have.

So if anyone has done it and can give some advise that would be great,

    Thanks again.

I think someone did this just last week them selves, have a look in the 'what have you done' thread.

The Stock ones are prone to failiure, I've got the Whiteline ones which are a urethane sorta thing, the Seat ones (Jmac may have a set) are rubber from memory (soild, not the strange perforated design) and have been installed on quite a few Polos.

Hi all, just to let you know that I called both white line and Pedders and neither have them listed.
The part numbers on the websites are for the rears only, and I was told that the fronts are in development.

Anyway, I had to bite the bullet as I need the car on the road ASAP so I called VW and got one off them for $27.
I'll be spending this evening and prob tomorrow doing the repair..
    Wish me luck.

Jmac installed the solid SEAT bushes for me and I've had no dramas since. You will more than likely have to replace the stock ones again.

    Cheers,
