This DEFINATELY will not work on the 9N3 Polo. The gearbox is completely different. This has been covered many times before!!!!!!!!
There is only 1 company that makes a short shift for the 9N3 and it costs nearly 300 Euro + freight.
That's because it's not for the GTI.
I started a similar thread a while ago when I was looking for one for mine.

Have a look at Jason's last post on the first page. This explains why this one won't work.
Here's the only one that I was able to find that specifically stated that it was for the 9N

Not for AGU motor. That's ours isn't it?
06 Polo GTI - REVO Stage 2 = 140kw @ wheels.
06 Golf GTI - Bluefin Stage 1 blacked out with ED30 theme, leather, xenon, etc.
While I agree the Polo shifts well (well, after the dog bone insert is done), I must completely disagree with the Mx5 shift. Even after a full rebuild, all new synchros, redline oil, new Exedy ceramic clutch and lightened flywheel... my 6spd in my old Mx5 10AE was fussy and annoying to shift (short shifter was fitted to it too)
Back to the topic, do you really need a short shifter for the polo? There are already plenty of well documented cases of shift issues in 2nd/3rd in the Polo box when shifting fast. I'm all for maximum performance, but I don't think the risk of damaging the already mediocre synchros is worth the cost and wank factor of the short shift.
Previous Rides: Polo GTI, Mx5 10AE, MY05 WRX WRP10, Renault Sport Clio 172
Current Ride: Evo 8 MR, Fabia MK3
@JCM308: Don't get me wrong, I'm not arguing with you... I've only quoted what was stated in the specs - "Polo 2001 on".
You had a 10AE? Believe it or not so did I!![]()
Yes the general consensus amongst 5ers is that Aisin 6spd isn't as sweet as the standard Mazda 5spd box used in the NA/NB8A, and having tried an older NA I'd have to agree you do get the famous snick-snick rifle bolt action, mine didn't have the problems yours had, guess maybe it's a one-off (either yours or mine). It still ranks above the Pog for the sense of directness and obviously the travel was a fair bit shorter. Never missed a shift with it (but then I never did with the Polo either except that time getting an awful crunch slamming it from 1st to 2nd, been babying it ever since, anyway I digress...)
Had a go an SP once which had a short-shifter fitted (only played with the gears, was given a lift in it), it felt much like the S2000's - a bit stiff but definitely flick-switch short. Not sure if it's really necessary though as it was already short enough for the road so like you said maybe it's more for the wank factor.
My old proton satria GTI had a pretty awsome **** in it. Better than th polo,, but i dont mind the Polo anyway
