LOLLLL Rhys, what exactly are the drop links? can you explain the benefits of it?? yes i know stupid question but I've never heard of them

this should sum it up for you

Ford Mondeo drop links (2000-2003) fit and work perfectly on the Polo 9n3 GTI - lifting the ARB clear of the drive shafts on lowered cars..

Since I lowered using the H&R springs.. more knocks could be heard from the front.. when travelling slowly over bumpy roads....

For sure my standard drop links could have been worn.. but the Mondeo ones are slightly shorter so pulling the ARB out of the way...

Front is now much tighter.. I've been driving over all my close-by speed bumps (they are close and loads of them) ... and all over my closest typically pitted roads... not a single rattle or bang noise..

So, for all interested, the ones I had installed were from UK Ebay.

Listing came up as: FORD MONDEO MK3 FRONT ANTI ROLL BAR DROP LINK RODS x 2

Listed to fit 2000-2008 Mondeo's.

Make sure they are the front ones.

Here is my non technical / likely imperfect explanation of what they do and why they are a good idea:
- When the car is dropped with coilovers / lower springs, the drop links are no longer keeping the front Sway bar / anti lift bar in its correct position.
- I feel that since having changed them, the front end is a bit sharper (but have done RSB at same time, so can't really be 100%).
- Knocking and general front end noises when going over bumps and cornering reduced (back to just a noisy dash).

Why you should: Because if you have lowered your car, for the $45 in parts and minimal fitting cost, its cheap insurance you are not compromising your handling or letting the stock links decay faster (wouldn't want one of those breaking on you).

I had my mechanic fit them, maybe one of our resident mechanics can comment here...

Just looking at it, the way I would go about it is just leave the wheels on the ground, turn the wheel until the Drop link is exposed to work on, and then replace it. Why I would do it lik this is that the sway bar is in its normal position, making the parts easier to line up when fitting.
If the car is raised, this means the suspention is slack, and will drop to its lowest point, meaning you are going to have to lift the suspention back up to have the components line up.
Like I said, this is just how I would do it.
