    FK coilovers

    hi,
has anybody had some experiance with fk coilovers...for a polo 9n gti
i have notied that they are very well priced, and if you go for the silverline kit, it has stainless steel body and springs...so should be good and strong and corrosive free.

There are other brands like KW that I've recently had installed in my RS and am loving it. Very comfy and compliant and I'd dare say that its smoother and absorbs bumps better than my previous Bilstein B8 and H&R springs setup on my polo.
Another point to note is, unless you're also looking for cosmetic attributes, stainless steel coilovers aren't necessary especially living here in Melbourne and if you don't drive the car to the snow all the time.

The big plus of the more expensive FK coilovers is the adjustable rebound damping from the Koni dampers that are used with these units.

They get a bad reputation as being harsh, though, because people disregard the advice from Koni to start off with the damping set to the lowest setting and only adjust to stiffer settings if they wear, are dropped stupidly low or for serious (track) usage. Basically, you get more opportunity to fuçk up the settings with the greater adjustability (KW V3's could be made to run diabolically bad since they have compression as well as rebound damping adjustment)

I'm running FK AK coil overs that myself and Smead got out of the UK for $430 a set. We both have no complaints about that em.

    Hi
@Blitzen,How are the K AK coils, and how do they compare to the highsport...any further coments on the kit (good / bad comments welcome).
Also any advise on whetehr it is beter to go for the sports edition, since they offer 6 point adjustable damping.
    Thanks

got any evidence to suggest that FK's are a lesser product?

I've got FK highsports in my Polo TDI and I love them. I've done a track day on them also and they performed seamlessly!

They are quite comfortable on the street and go quite low. Also they are MUCH better value than their competitors.

depends what you want them for. Are you going to do track work? In that case I'd be going for the konigsports, as Koni's are rebuildable in Australia unlike KW V3's (if you intend to keep them a while)

not really going to us for track..more for good road work, and to look good.
Also any advise on whether it is beter to go for the sports edition, since they offer 6 point adjustable damping (not sure why, but they only 25 GBP more thanFK highsport -- although maybe there are other quality issues).

I have just installed the FK Ak's as well and love them. Coming from adjustable damper Koni struts I was a little worried at not having that function anymore but it hasn't been a problem even on the track and mountain runs. As Josh said they are comfortable on the street and go low. And don't forget the damper on these actually adjusts the lower you set them. For the price mate I really think these are fantastic so unless you are going to get really into tracking your Polo I don't think adjust-ability is needed but at the end of the day it's your call and money.
