Another option is Ferodo 2500's.Timbo and I have used both EBC's and currently the Ferodos, and prefer the latter. They are working well from cold, are quiet and less dusty, and should be a good track day pad.Cost is up [about $280 a set]but they seem a lot better than the EBC's.Part number is FCP1419H.I got mine from V Sport in Sydney phone 99679 8644.Talk to Tony Dunn-he's very helpfull.
    Cheers

Yep, the Ferodos are good. I'll reserve my judgement until I have tracked them, but they are certainly cleaner than both the stock pads and the EBCs.

With the Ferodos, you have to bridge the pad wear connector, otherwise the dash light stays on

Just out of curiosity - does anyone know what the gear ratios are?

I've found that the diff ratio is 3.65:1 and the ratio for 5th is 0.82:1 - but what about the other four gears?

I've compiled the info of the FAQ - with some additional information into a website. I'll be expanding this over the next few weeks to cover the remaining engines and models (I'll probably roll both the 1.4 Match/Club into one page).

Feel free to point out anything that's missing (yes, I'm aware that the TDI link doesn't work yet - that one's my current WIP), and if people would like me to host dyno graphs etc (still searching for that elusive official graph) - I'll be happy to do so as long as they're not too big. I do plan to cover chips at some stage, but not just yet.

The site at the moment is at a pretty early stage - so expect it to change in both appearance and content reasonably regularly at this stage.

Edit a few days later: Polo TDI info page up

    Lights

Got myself a full set of Phillips Diamond visions over the weekend but am having trouble installing them all.
Headlights were a breeze, parker on drivers side easy too.. I can get my hand in on the passenger side to pull out the other parker because the battery and all the **** on it is too close. Any tips without having to pull the battery out?
Also, have tried the fog lights yet as I don't want to breaak anything.

FYI - High beems are H1s, Headlights are H7s, Fog Lights H4s and parkers obviously wedge globes.

Ya! the driver side is very easy but for the other side you don't need to pull out the battery but you must have a small hand to do the job. i replaced mine already its a pretty hard job to do it cuz i got a big hand... LOL i'm thinking to replace the fog lights too i through it was H3...but you found out is H4s... lucky that i didn't buy the H3...

Just had to change a headlight bulb on the wifes Polo and found this quick how to that makes it very easy.

    - remove the rubber cover
    - pull off electrical connector
    - slacken the 2 T20 torx screws at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock (no need to remove them). You will need a stubby or angled driver.
    - twist black plastic retaining plate 15 degrees anticlockwise
    - pull out bulb, noting its orientation (tab at 12 o'clock)
    - reverse to replace the bulb

    Cheers Al
