Hey guys, I am looking at getting a Polo GTI soon and I'm just wondering on your thoughts about factory warranty. I would like one with leather and sunroof but there aren't many with remaining warranty. Should I forget about the leather and sunroof and get something with warranty or just risk it and get an older model with the extras? My main concern is if something like the gearbox lets go it will be pricey to fix.
Any thoughts?
the gearbox concerns were more for the earlier ones (06's), I haven't heard any reports on the later model (08's). From my observations, most of the earlier ones seemed to let go early in the vehicles life, rather than mileage specific. Other than the gearbox, the only other common things to wear are a few of the bushes in the front, which can be upgraded with aftermarket units which will last. They are more a PITA as they make knocking noise. Check out the warranty thread, but bear in mind it's a small representation of the vehicle and ppl on here are fastidious owners. I got my car with 2yrs warranty (only 2months to go), and have had the strut top bushes and CD player replaced.
