Have a look in the Mk5 Golf section, this has come up there before.

From memory the extended service is an agreement with a 3rd party who have a slightly different structure.

Yeah, for example my car had extended warranty, but when it was sold to me from the original owner that extended warranty was not able to be transferred.

You also need to have all your servicing done by the dealership in question (at least my extended warranty stipulated that)

Make sure and read ALL the small print. I looked at a dead 07 Passat the other day which was bought with extended warranty. The client had it serviced whlist it was in being checked for its non run condition. anyway the client wanted the service as the light was on the dash, which is fair enough. Now when the client asked about the warranty it was voided as their ( the warranty company) specify theat the service has to be done at 10ks, which is very unfair as the service schedule for this vehicle is 15k. Unfair. And it turns out i found the fault and is going to be a very expensive repair, and no warranty.

$1620 for 3yrs an another 60,000kms - bought through Highway VW where I bought the car. Jimmy can still service and as long as he servicing has been done according to the book all is cool.

I rang Allianz (the 3rd party insurer) who had no idea and said call a dealer. I asked if price varied from dealer to dealer and she said they all have the same "loading". Maybe that means 'profit margin' and the will drop the price if they know you are shopping.

Did you look at the Mk5 section? There is a sticky there and either calling Denlo or Wollongong VW could have saved you some cash.

Ahh ok I suggest giving them a call to compare, as long as you are comfortable doing it on the phone. I bought mine through Jaz at Woolongong that way and it all went smoothly.

Update: As NickZ says, read the thread in the Mk5 section. Upshot of it all is go thru either Jaz or Kim at Southern Classic (02 4254 2000) or Jamil Syeed (M: 0414 795 719).

Rang Jaz at Southern Classic but she is sick. Spoke to Kim who is very helpful and familiar with the discounted deal for forum members. $1080 for 3yrs 60,000km full VW warranty (thru Allianz). She said normal retail is $1620 which is what Highway VW in Brisbane quoted me some time ago. Which I think is pretty bloody good. Waiting on a call from Jamil at Denlo.

Servicing: "Service your vehicle in accordance with the manufactures recommendations and keep a record of the services undertaken on your vehicle"

    So Jimmy can still service

The policy is even transferable if you sell privately (but not to a dealer).

But it MUST be done before your warranty expires, or else you are looking at a used vehicle warranty.
