Mine cost less than $500 to be fabricated and fitted by a very experienced exhaust technician in a well-equipped workshop. Here's my original thread on this mod.

Do NOT contemplate this unless you know that the shop has the capabilities and expertise, otherwise you could end up with a mess that costs a lot more to fix.

The APR pipe also includes a high-flow cat, and as such, is a good, oem-like replacement for the whole down-pipe. Guy hadn't developed this when I had my dump made. If I was doing it now, I would probably buy the APR pipe -- provided it worked with my Revo flash -- not much sense in buying a whole new flash just to fit a new down pipe

Totally agree - if you're contemplating this option, find the best exhaust fitter in your city/state, ...seek a recommendation from those who know the best custom shop/fitter in your area, or you risk ruining your standard exhaust, eg O2 sensor problems, poor clearance etc.

I wouldn't butcher the OEM cat. That's asking for trouble. It flows more than adequately to handle the turbo, and the consequences -- should the car be put over the pits at some stage -- might be serious.

Totally disagree It does not flow more than adequately, and leaving the secondary cat would still be legal - removing cats all-together wouldn't be. I've looked through both cats, trust me, the primary cat is very restricted. Since we're on the topic of butchering the stock exhaust anyway, why not do it properly rather than leave the stock primary cat choker on

Cats dont normally make much of a difference. I gutted my cat and could feel it.

It's very difficult to judge the flow of a cat by looking through them; you need to flow test them; good exhaust shops will do this for you.

    OK..

What happen is I am thinking to get a remus exhaust and unfortunately it only comes in rear box, so my plan is to get a APR or milltek downpipe and custom make a 2.75" middle pipe for it.

Is 2.75" too big? or stick with 2.5"?

And apparantly both APR and milltek downpipe are 2.5", anyone have any comments about them?

I know the full exhaust system from APR is cost effective, but i dun like its tip...
