Boost gauge.
Installed an electronic boost gauge, tapped one of the two lines coming off the intake manifold (actually the passenger side one). Gauge reads boost but not vacuum. Seems odd as it should since it's downstream of the throttle. Bad gauge or strange tapping point??

wrong pressure sensor supplied with the electronic readout or dodgy pressure/vacuum sensor? double check the pressure sensor part number is the one to go with a vac/pressure display or check the sensor against an independent vacuum source eg a cigarette socket pump set to vacuum and see if you get a reading. If you get a reading from the sensor then it'd most likely be the readout itself.

Serves me right for buying a cheap $30 ebay gauge! Just pulled the hose off with the engine running and there's definitely vacuum coming from the hose to the manifold.

Crickey 30 bucks is cheap! Just wanted to check for fault finding reasons that when you say an electronic gauge you mean it has a vac/pressure signal hose that goes from the inlet plenum to a pressure sensor, and then wires that lead from that sensor to a digital numeric or digital bar graph display yeah?

Post a link to the gauge.

Like this one?
I had one, it was ****.
I don't think you can beat a mechanical guage. Buy a quality one, VDO or something.

Hahaha yeah, seems to read the right boost (1.3 bar) for Apr V2, but yeah, I shouldn't have been such a cheapskate.
