    Eww...chewing gum

    Hi all,

Last night after walking the streets of Sydney, my shoes picked up some gum and promptly deposited it onto my carpet mats in the Pog. Is there any way to remove the gum without damaging the carpet?

    Cheers,
    C

awww how i feel for you.. Have you tried some eucalyptus oil? That seems to do the trick at school when my students accidentally sit on chewing gum..

Can always try the old freeze it with some ice and scrape it off... or maybe stick the whole floor mat in the freezer?

Freezing works well. You can go to Jaycar and get an aerosol can of cold for about $10. It's a freezing spray used to fault find electronic circuits. It's a bit easier than putting the car in the freezer and it will get it colder than ice. Good luck!

Thanks for that suggestion MissVuks. I bought a 100ml bottle of this stuff from Coles, cost me less than $3, and i used a little bit of it on the gum, and it came off like it was never there. However, now my car smells like eucalyptus, and I think the oil vapours are making me uncomfortable. I've taken the mat out now, and will give it a proper wash later.
