ESP Light on after installing coilovers.

    Hey guys,

Put my KW V1's in today with the help of the Wagga VWW Boys - did an absolutely great job, really good team effort. But on my way home about 20 minutes into the journey cruising at 110km my ESP light beeped on and stayed on (i.e. the button doesn't switch the light off again). Now once the car's stopped and restarted it does the same - no light for about 10-20 minutes and nothing seems to trigger it such as excessive braking (which I've had with ABS faults on previous VWs). There is no ABS light on - which are normally seen in conjunction with each other if a speed sensor has been broken

I don't have my VCDS cable until my mum brings it back over next week, but ideally would love to get her to bring a new sensor over too if that's what I've broken/disconnected whilst fitting.

I guess what I'm asking is, has anyone else had this problem when doing suspension mods or maybe in the brake area? Also any signs to look out for if I have time to take the wheels off this weekend? And finally, could this be the reason I almost completely lost control of the car in first gear turning right at an intersection? I'd just put the front's in and nipped out to grab a few more things before doing the back - turned out of an intersection as normal, but oversteered heaps and nearly spun out, then over corrected and somehow managed to get it back without hitting anyone - I've never come so close to crashing in my life, doing something as simple as pulling out! Remember my car isn't even tuned yet!

I had a problem, it was just a cut in the wire, turned out the tyre was rubbing on the wires when going over big bumps/pot holes .
Have you checked them. Cable tie the wires to the strut.

Dont know what it has to do with spining

No biggie, who needs traction control anyway

Yeah that's something we forgot to do actually, maybe that's what it was - just the cable's rubbing or whatever on big bumps. I'll give it a cable tie ASAP and see if I'm still having problems.

And yeah I know haha - I turn it off every now and then anyways. But the oversteer was something I'd never experienced before, it was like there was a problem with the car over a user error...surely it could be anything to do with the rears being stock and the fronts being lower? Cause it was tail happy which is really odd.

That's a bit worrying about the traction, could it have been oil on the tyre or something odd?
Obviously the balance of different suspension would be bad, but shouldn't do much at low speeds.

No chance of oil, we'd been working in a really clean area and nothing leaked, it had been a wet day but had dried up. I wonder if these systems have the ability to increase traction to an individual wheel - because that would make a lot of sense if one wheel was getting fine traction and the other was being limited?

Yeah all good - was just an intermittent fault due to the wiring being lose, cable tied up and had no problems since
