Certainly did, best decision I think I ever made with this setup, I recon kenwood make some of the better head units out there, this one actually looks stock once you customize the colors

Eonon D5101: Double Din Sat Nav

I remember Kenwood as being pretty poor, but brands change their market all the time in audio.
I'm a fan of Eclipse, but they have some cheap gear out there as well. Alpine has maintained a pretty good name in amps, not my choose for speakers / subs.

I'm liking my Eclipse unit, due for a small sub soon.

OMG! ok got this unit for my gf who now has my polo gti. Put the unit in hooked it up like some of the other guys here on the forum and yep up and running. What frustrated me was the fact we lost the polo's ability to turn the unit off and unlock the doors when you take the keys out of the ignition. The doors unlocked once you turned the head unit off. Anyone else had this scenario??
So I took it to Strathfield car radio and they prodded around with a test light as they couldnt understand as to why I had to hook it up the way I did for the unit to stay on. after they tested it i hooked it back up the way I did originally with the red ACC wire to the Blue with the white stripe wire and now it wont switch on. There is power to the unit I know that for sure it just will not turn on.
I've emailed Eonon so I'll see what they say but for mine I'd buy a name brand unit next time where its pretty much plug and play.

make sure the power to the unit is hooked up directly to the AUX power in this picture and not going through the canbus decoder box.

This way it will turn on and off with the keys, if its hooked up through the decoder, it will stay on with the car and switch off every 15 mins due to the power saving relay.

Hmmm heavily frustrated now. When I connect it the way you have described above the system works but it does not turn off or on when I do the same with the car??? it also does not allow me to open or close the car with the FOB its only when I disconnect the AUX cable am I able to use the FOB.

Anyways put the stock radio back in and still have lost the feature of the radio turning off and the doors unlocking when you take the key out.

I'll email EONON again but I suspect I'll have no luck once again.

Thinking of changing over the D5101 in the missus polo soon, the lag on the ui (particularly gps) is getting a little annoying, so thinking about replacing it with the android based Parrot Asteroid Smart (Can pick them up for roughly $550 on ebay)

    Parrot - Support parrot-asteroid-smart

To install would it be pretty much the same deal as the Eonon? ie. plug in through the canbus plug, then route the Aux power directly as your pic? If it's just one wire to splice I'm thinking of doing it myself rather than taking it to an installer, anything more complex than that and I'll end up routing the horn to the window switch or something

Have read on other Forums that these Eonon units could best described as far from perfect.

As stated in the last post on the previous page where the poster had swapped out his Eonon for a Kenwood unit..
Lesson learn't, don't buy cheap Chinese crap if your after sound quality.

Yep if you want a decent unit, buy a brand name unit, these Chinese knockoffs all have terrible sound quality, think about what you are doing with the unit 99% of the time 90% of the features are useless when driving.

Changing the unit was probably the best decision Ive made for my setup, don't even miss the GPS as I use an external one when needed, or my phone.. Can also note the kenwood above supports android phones with UPNP storage (like a usb key)
