Thread: Engine Mounts?

    Engine Mounts?

    Hi,

I have a 2001 Polo and I am experiencing a problem when pulling away from a dead stop. The accelerator pedal feels like it is bouncing. Almost like it is being pulled back and forth. I know that the engine mountings are not that great but I never thought they were quite this bad. The "rocking" sensation is most evident when riding the clutch a little while pulling away and the pedal sort of "falls away". I hope I have explained this enough.

I have tried to check the mountings visually but this is quite difficult for the untrained eye. Does anyone know where in Sydney or NSW I can get the mounts checked and replaced if needed without it costing an arm and a leg?

    Thanks in advance.

I am now 100% convinced that the engine mountings are causing a wolrd of hurt to my car and I decided to call Barloworld 5 docks. Long story short, the guy in the parts department was most unhappy that I already had the part numbers, so much so that he REFUSED to confirm that I have the correct numbers! His words were, "I do all the work and you go off and find the parts somewhere else. Lets be realistic here."

I responded by telling him that I AM realistic as I "Already OWN one of THEIR cars!".

What a jerk. I will make a note to NEVER buy anything from them. I am looking to buy $600 worth of engine mounts and they want another $550 if I want them to fit them for me and he thinks that I will go off with someone else if they are $5 cheaper for the parts? FFS VW. You need to reality check. If you are unhappy with the price of the parts you are quoting, then quote better prices!!!! Its called the free market.

Oh well... If anyone knows where I can get the following parts, please let me know.

Rear Lower, Petrol manual (6N0 199 851 AG)
    Right, 1.4 16v AFH (6N0 199 262 G)
    Left, 1.4 16v (6N0 199 555 H)

I would find a good VW specialist who can order the parts at trade prices and install for you. There are a few around including on this forum.

    Hi Hoof,

I am experiencing the same issues with POLO 2001 1.4l 16V.
How did you go with the your car? Was it rear mounting?

    Regards,

Mate, that guy hasn't been on for nearly 2 years now, so I don't think he is coming back... It could be a perished torque arm bush... These are easy to check, and come out with the aid of a 13mm socket and ratchet. 3 bolts attach the engine to the K Frame.

Blitzen: Apart from APR, do you know if anyone else makes a replacement, upgraded torque arm bush?

yes, I think the torque arm bush is causing it, too. So I will just replace it, at the same time need to replace the selector shaft seal. Do you know any good place to source parts from?
