Engine Mount Replacements

Hi All, I'm finally getting around to replacing the engine mounts in the Polo as they are pretty well sh%gged at 140,000ks, for years i've been putting up with a slight knocking sound coming from the drivers side door area, I figured it was the strut tops but I think engine mounts are more likely the case.

I have done a fair bit of looking around and you can get aftermarket ones from trupro for around $100 each side which is pretty cheap, anyone had any experience with these?

Had a look at the vibratechnic mounts but they might be a bit too solid for a daily driver.

I replaced the dog bone mount a few years back and that has been fairly sturdy.. For the front I'm pretty much after a comfort mount that wont rattle too much when sitting in traffic yet provide decent stability for the engine when giving it some stick..

Maybe OEM is the way to go? Just got a quote back from the stealers, nearly $800 for OEM replacements

OEM are pretty sloppy. I have some 100,000km OE ones if you get stuck. I have vibratechnics on my car and they make it pretty harsh and buzzy. From memory to stiffen it up as a compromise between comfort and things being nice and stable, guys were doing a superpro type of dogbone (that really can't be OE, its a pos), and doing a vibratechnic gearbox side mount but keeping the OE engine/drivers side. The engine side mount really doesn't move that much, but the OE gearbox mount is a complex thing with more play in it.

Thanks Sam, I finally got around to removing the battery and airbox to see whats going on with the mount, appears the OEM gearbox mount is in perfect condition visually, it might actually be the OEM dogbone that's just gone soft causing a jerky feel when coming off the accelerator, I have a superpro one laying around that I was running a few years back, might chuck it in and see if it remedies the issue.

Looks perfectly fine but not sure if they actually just go soft over time...



Was a good chance to clean out the years of build up under there, CT18 is a magic cleaner!
