Does anyone else wait until the revs drop to 700rpm before taking off or am I the only fool who sits and waits for it to drop?

I wait, but only because I like the car to run for about a minute before I take off on a cold start, and the cars run at the higher revs for exactly 1 minute.

I wait for the initial fuel consumption to drop for 3.5L/min to 1.3L/min before moving off then I usually stop somewhere before the freeway for the idle to show between 0.9 and 0.7L/min before I go above 2500rpm or giving it any stick.

They are talking about liters per minute and not liters per 100 kms. L/min does not go up when idling for extended period of time.

I have been told its better to get the car moving asap rather than let it idle to warm up. This is because the engine warms up faster under load and idling doesn't warm it up fast enough. Of course that doesn't mean you go thang it up the street. No sudden or hard acceleration until the engine is warm & the temp needle is sitting in the middle. I suppose its a personal choice tho. Who nows if there really is a difference? Time will tell I guess but in terms of fuel usage mine seems to float around 0.7 and 0.8 now, occassionaly 0.9 if its cold and it hit 0.6 the other day just idling after a decent run. I seem to be getting better fuel economy the more I drive it and especially so since I have installed a K&N panel filter. Easily the best mod after a chip.
And Mike I agree with you on that point too; If I let mine idle for long enough the avg L/100Kms goes up unreasonably. Not entirely sure the trip computer is that accurate to be honest.

Add it when you do your next oil change, that way you don't have to go dropping oil out to compensate for the additive.

i think from memory its only a 500ml bottle, and lasts regardless of changing oils in that time. would 500mls make that much of a differance?
