I'm glad I didn't get it...just another unnecessary option IMO. just another thing to break/leak/rattle.

The sunroof adds weight. And it adds it up high which is not good.
It's the very reason the new M3 has a carbonfibre roof. to lower the centre of gravity for better handling.
I got leather and a sunroof. If for no other reason than it is cheaper to get these options on the Pogo than most other cars on the road (BMW is $3k plus).
My first car 20 years ago had a sunroof and I really missed it. Glad I got one this time, although it is a little noisier than I would like. Especially like the tilt/slide operation, tilting helps keep things cool in summer.
I got a sunroof in mine. It is the first car I have ever had with a sunroof and I am glad I got it. The way I see it its about as close as you can get to a convertible without having a convertible. Its great to use when the weather permits it.
Sure it may add a bit of weight but if your so concerned about a few extra kilos then you may as well go and take out the rear seats and replace the fonts with some light fixed-back buckets. Remove your spare wheel carpet and roof lining. But not many people will do that, I don't recall anyone here on the forum being that pedantic and going to such extremes.
I also think it makes the car feel a bit more upmarket.
have a sunroof in our polo... love it.. have had a sunroof in all our new cars that had the option for them.
prefer the tilt and slide sunroofs as this gives greater flexibility in what you do with it. use it on any day that is not raining and above about 17Deg.
Dont care about the minimal extra weight gain as i didn't buy it to be a racecar.
Only sunroof i didn't like was in my forester... too damn big (bout half the roof) and coz of the size it only slid back.. no tilt function.
forgot to mention i have never had one leak or rattle.

I have a sunroof. Didn't really want it, but it was on the car that was available. Quite happy with it -- doesn't rattle or leak. But still wouldn't go out of my way to buy one.
I ordered mine with sunroof - having had previous experience with VW sunroofs, I'd known they were well engineered and reliable - very happy with mine. Really adds another dimension to the car when the weather calls for it. While it's a $1500 option, there's a comfortable margin for dealers on them and they can be haggled down, eg $1200.
I had no interest in leather. As far as I was concerned, the Polo GTI is a nimble, affordable, performance car, otherwise I would have gone for an Audi if I wanted more luxury features. If you're into performance (each to their own) then you probably don't want to be sliding around on leather seats when cornering at high speeds, and for 2.5k, it wasn't a compelling option.
I passed on the sunroof as a: I found the car I otherwise wanted new and in stock at a dealer, so ready for almost immediate delivery and b: having come from a MINI (via a Suzuki Satan Spawn) the Pogo sunroof is absolutely teensy.
Cheers!
PogoAmy.
