ECS tuning stage 1 clutch kit - ignition...

Hi guys, just had my new clutch/flywheel fitted. Awesome... it even has lighter clutch action than the factory!

Just wondering, when you start the car, is it normal to make some noise that's different from when it was stock? it's noisier on start up, but once started it's quiet as stock.

06 Golf GTI - Bluefin Stage 1 blacked out with ED30 theme, leather, xenon, etc.

So you're saying that it's noisier when you crank it over?

That could just be the new ring gear not being bedded in with the starter motor. It also could be noisier because you've gone to single mass (?) and it doesn't absorb the resonation as well as before, therefore making more noise.

Yes as far as I know if this is the same single mass flywheel that 'Chipped' has, it does produce a noise that is apparantly the sound of air moving around where there used to be the dual mass flywheel. Does that make sense? Anyway his makes a subtle noise & I beleive its normal and that's supposed to happen.

Yeah it's not loud, just different sounds a little screechy compared to the stock one.

It's a good upgrade, and very happy with it.

14lbs one from ECS with VW genuine thrust bearings as Jmac recommended.

The VW specialist (who does lots of modified Golfs, etc) was impressed with the Pogo performance. He apologised for wheel spinning.... he didn't realise it was modified... I like the stock look.

I will see how I do on the next Dyno run.

Given that I had 127.4kw at wheels with REVO & Seat alone before.... now with
    1) 3" down pipe
    2) 4 bar fuel regulator
    3) ECS flywheel more effectively transferring power from engine to wheels...
    4) and hopefully I will get K&N filter panel before...
that was in summer at around 20-25 degrees on second run...

so I am aiming at 140kw at wheel +, and it's winter now with around 10-15 degrees ambient temperature I don't think it will be too difficult.

EVO X ran around 180kw at wheels when I did 127.4kw on the same day, so sounds about right.

ha ha nice work, that's what i love best about our cars! The lighter flywheel could be the reason for the noise.
