I am thinking to build a street trim drag car (use to go to work in the day, go drag strip at night), which of the following car is a better base?
mkv golf gti 3dr dsg (coz the launch control should give me consistance time)
mkv golf r32 dsg (turbo kit from MTM is 30 grand )
mkv jetta turbo dsg
new passat wagon auto (my dad loves it, and the suprise factor)
dont even think about getting big HP out of DSG cars mate... those gearboxes cant take that much torque and they cost something like $15k to replace!
VW: it aint just a car, its a way of life
There are few things more satisfying in life than finding a solution to a problem and implementing it

Yeah, probably better to learn how to drive so you can launch properly without relying on your gearbox.
FOR SALE
"VW GTI" QLD Prestige Plate
Yep i agree on the cost very expensive to replace but they will cop 400 - 500nm if properly tweaked.

MY07 Jetta 2.0 TFSI - DSG,Tints,Bluetooth,
MY99 V6 Passat.
MY08 GTI - DSG,5 Door,Leather,Roof,Tints. - SOLD
MK2 GTI 8V - SOLD
You have some expensive cars there for a drag car.....for the same sort of money as some of these cars you could be getting yourself into some tuned high 10sec 400m jap cars e.g. already majorly worked r33 GTR's etc are approx $40K in good condition with 600HP+.
Also if your looking for a new car your getting close to the price of an S3 which would be my pick over any of the above.

Sweet jesus ... I can't even beat a golf TDi in my spanking new 08 polo Gti ... I seriously need to learn how to take off on the track!!!
so do most people turn esp off for this ?? or does the esp train you not to spin the wheels and loose power thus getting take offs just right.
