I have similar situation to you!!

My car got chipped (on the windscreen) in less then 10 days, then damaged my tyre's side wall after hitting a port hole in the following week, then a "not perfect" tint 2 weeks later, then 1st to 2nd crunch, and now there is something wrong with my door hinge...

This is not my 1st vw, and every vw i had have a look a problem... but vw really got a lot of quality issue...

Not to mention parking ticket from the 1st week for 12 min late....

And the car is still less then 2 month old!!!!

    Mine is black 2...

Is black gti just get cursed?
Forgive me if I'm mistaken but I don't think VW can be held responsible for windscreen chips, damage from potholes (or port holes for that matter), crook window tinting or parking tickets. Yes, it would appear there is a problem with the Polo GTI gearbox but to say that VW have quality issues based on this one issue is an overstatement.

    Cheers

Well said, George. The owner taking responsibility for their own actions (or inactions) that seriously impact the vehicle cannot possibly be the fault of the manufacturer / distributor ... whether that's the way you drive your car ("My gearbox makes a loud "Graunching" noise when I change from 1st to 2nd at 16,000rpm") to how you care for your oil, water & tires or don't take care of other aspects.

Regarding to the quality issue, i dun mean all the chips and tyres thing...

I have problem with the front drivers window, it will automatically wind down when my old mobile phone rings (happens to my mk4 golf 2), then my door hinge is making weired noise, rear number plate light bulb is blown, gear box crunching, and the interior trim is starting rattle now... And the car is less then 2 months old...

I have own more then 10 japanese car, new and used, and never have any problem with any of them...

But the 3 golfs (mk4 1.6, mk5 tdi, mk5 gti), me and my family own have endless trouble....

Dont get me wrong, they are all nice car, but i really thinks build quality is an issue and vw really have to look into it!

I love my cars and never bounce it at the rev limiter, my gear box will crunch even at idle when i try to put it in 1st or reverse...

Not to mention d once in a night time at city, the mk4 golf just wont start or can not switch off (keys out, engine still running, yea.. wtf... got nrma to physically kills d car and tow it to a deal, and dealer cant find anything on it, and now, d mk4 have gear box problem, it stuck in 1st and 2nd gear (its an auto btw)..

I do my service (done 2 service in less then 2 months) and check everything in my car very frequently, i take care my car like everyone here...

I know there is impossible to do QA in 100%, but am i always the lucky one?

I had a mk4 golf, mk5 golf and the polo now, and can you feel how bad i felt when i found this is faulty, that is faulty in my car?

To my knowledge plenty of Euro cars have quality issues these days - particulalry in the electrics - even the once unassailable BMW/Mercedes.

Probably got a lot to do with how relatively cheap they are these days (compared to 10 years ago), how many complex features they now have and and that most of them are made in strange sounding countries by cheap labour.
