    reply to OP.

in my experience, people that modify cars correctly generally look after their cars better than the "stock" is better brigade.
missing servicing, using inferior oils and consumable parts.
if you are using high quality modified parts that are manufactured to oem standards(all german modified parts have to comply to TUV standards) and the parts are installed by a qualified mechanic why would there be a issue?

I really dont understand OP your issues .my suggestion to you is to sell your VW as soon as possible.believing that a vw is unreliable and then trying to justify a no mod is better belief is ,well

    polo forum always delivers!!!!!!

Unreliable drivers make unreliable cars. Regardless of extra or add on equipment, if you don't look after your car, your car won't look after you.
Having a car that sits in the garage and dosn't go anywhere leads to its own set of problems. Dried up seals and gaskets lead to them breaking down prematurley, unwanted residues build up that would normally be burned off or absorbed, things start living where they shouldn't live(mud wasps in exhaust pipes come to mind, but piss funny when we found it!!).
You also have your tyres developing flat spots where they have sat in the one spot for long periods because they haven't been rotated regularly.
If you have a Diesel in Humid climates, you have the threat of Algae building up and thriving in your fuel system, and clogging your fuel filters with black gunk that never really seems to leave.
At the end of the day, you may have a low kilometer, un modified Polo GTI, but it really isn't going to fetch much more than a Modded Polo GTI that has been lovingly looked after, then returned to standard when the bloke(or girl) goes to sell it.

Im am firmly of the belief that the manufacturers know a bit about the cars they produce, the state of tune and suspension etc etc is something that has been tested to suit "most" people who are likely to buy the car, while producing longevity of the parts, at least to see thru the warranty period before failing.

If buying 2nd hand, be it car or bike, i will always try to get something stock (or close to)that has got around the average km on it and a decent service history. Just because i car is modded already doesnt necessarily mean that it was modded in a way i would have chosen, and while mods can be a sign the car was owned by an enthusiast who looked after it, more often than not it will have been driven a lot harder than a stock one, and possibly crashed. All generalisations i realise, but having been around the block a time or 2 i have seen a lot of pretty dodgy stuff.

your topics are good mate, but never this good! hehehehe

modifying your car should never be about perciving a monetary gain when you are thinking of selling.its about your enjoyment in doing the mod and enjoying the look/ride/sound etc etc..
a dealer will always find a reason to drop you down in price when you go to trade a car ,whether its modded or not.as for buying a car from a "one lady owner" or a "granny",I run when I see those words.

I would buy a car from a rev head/modder over a one lady owner/boring tight a$$ accountant any day of the week.

I see a locked thread coming on soon!

keep it up polo posters!!! always enjoyment to be had reading your threads!!!

    hehehhehehehhehehehehe
