No, definately no 1000 service.
Hi all,
I have a had a look through my documents and cannot find anywhere if I need to take the car for a 1000km service..
Is this a must??
My sticker on the window says 15k or a Date which ever comes first.
Any ideas?

Yeah mine has a serveice on monday with gtimk5 done about 15100ks now so just a tad over. Should be good for an oil change.
Back in the days of Dinosaurmobiles we had to get the oil changed @ 1000 miles in order to drop out all of the metal particles generated by the running in process. That's all changed. Modern manufacturing techniques mean that motors are put together so well that with the use of synthetic or semi-synthetic oils you can go a lot longer before needing an oil change.
also the car has already been run in pre new car

So can i make sure i have this correct. You dont have to dump the oil within the first 1000kms. I have talked to a few mechanics and they have told me i am better off if i do this. Also Will the oil last 15000. i was actually considering changing mine every 5000 or is this overkill.
Hoyhoy.
I was once told that VW bench run the engines for 5hr's then change the oil. True or False I don't know.
Hooroo.
In the UK it is possible to run a new TT for 20000 miles before an oil change if it is on the extended interval program.Originally Posted by Eddy
I couldn't do that to my own car but I guess if you are the first owner racking up loads of motorway miles then you won't stress the oil too badly. It's never going to drop to bits in the first 3 years and if it does Audi would pick up the tab.
Personally I think 5000 Ks is too short but if you drive around town constantly for the cost of the oil and filter, it's got to be worth doing.
