    Digital EGT Gauge

Looking at putting an EGT gauge in my car.
Will probably buy an Auber Instruments:

Could someone confirm which "Mounting Type Option" that I need to fit a Frankenturbo F23.
    Thanks.

The probe is in the downpipe on the S3/TT so you can use whatever you like. Have you had a new downpipe made for yours or are you using the adapter pipe?

The weld in stainless one would probably be the sensible one?

Are you tapping into the exhaust manifold collector?

I have got to check with Seb.
I am sure he said that there was a bung on the output side of the turbo.
    Could be wrong though.

Always better to read pre-turbo for EGT as there are a bunch of thermodynamics reasons that a post turbo reading can give you false/non-representative indications about whats going on.

Quite acceptable to drill and tap a manifold though if that's what you need to do.

Also, I just bought a boost/EGT guage set on ebay from an Australian seller.... racetech gauges, but ones with high reading recall and audio/visual warning aswell.

Forgot that I keep all that "useful stuff" floating about in the garage. Wait one caller.........

No bolt holes in the turbo fellas.

I guess that's why the manifold also lights up with the turbo when experiencing high egt's?

    I found the answer.
The thread below mentions that the turbo has an M12 pitch hole pre turbine ready for an EGT probe.
As you cant get an M12 probe then a 1/8" NPT to M12 converter plug will be used.
    VWVortex.com - F23 threaded hole-Exhaust leak?
    Plug off ebay:
    Metric Male M12X1 5 TO 1 8 NPT Female Fitting | eBay

Just ordered the gauge. $130 with the probe plus $12 for the converter plug.

Funny, the above thread also mentions issues with boost spikes caused by the actuators.
