Differential ring gear identification: 113mm or 114mm?

In deference to keeping VWindahouse's Little Red Devil thread on track, here is a place to try and garner information about our differentials in order to know what LSD or TBD variant is needed.

Yes thinking of getting a Wavetrac but no one can tell me what size ring gear to get. Our Polo's are either 113mm or 114mm ring gear. The Polo's came out with both

Yeah i know at peloquin they ask for the vin when ordering your diff, it might be worth the exercise with that, emailing the vin for a request for quote, mention you have a Polo. They probably use the same parts system as me seeing as independents dont get vin active Etka anymore after VW shut us down. i subscribe to Germany now ftw. Anyway where im heading is the 02R in the Polo has 02j bellhousing and 02r outer gear casing. Ik try not to muddle things up here as im thinking as i type. If they request the vin something must tell them what diam ring gear you have if it were a Golf, ive looked and cant see it but there isnt a magic program so after seeing so many they must ave something that tells them. So that being the case and if they do in fact use a similar program as i use then whats to stop them checking the Polo? its all vin active. I have a shredded peloquin that i could measure, there is only 3 gearbox codes for the 02R in the Gti , HWY, JDB and GVZ. Ill check what the casing is i have to see if it sheds light, not sure if it will but i would be trying the above with Peloquin, even if you are going Wavetrac. i reckon im going Wavetrac in my 6N, seems the go.

I just had a look on the Peloquin site and saw something that wasn't there before on the 113mm ring gear version of the 02J diff.

This differential will be used in the 02S SEAT LEON and 02R Polo from this production date 01 10 03 this
date along with letters is found on top of trans. near shift cable connects to trans.
Plus will fit in the 2005 up 0A4 transaxle.

But it's all rather confusing when you read some of the preceding text which states

Some times
the Vin number won't work or trans. code number as VW has yet come up with a
way to tell the public which ring gear they have.

Would your comments also apply to my TDi, Jimmy?

Yeah agree not to mix uip this awesome build thread so ill make this one my last about the diff, i reckon there is lots more to talk about regarding it so mighyt start a new thread, anyway im gathering some vins to see if i can compare 02Rs to see if there is anything springs up, i have Anthonys (HWY) so i need a JDB and a GVZ anyone???? Kaanage can you give me your vin too mate, i have a busted 02R with a wrecked peloquin so ill measure it and see what the casing code is to see if the light bulb comes on.
