I just ordered my 2nd ScanGauge II, this one for the Polo. Whilst my Euro didn't have a fuel computer, the primary reason for my #2 is that of getting a digital km/h display that works in tunnels (!gps). The Polo's 80-100 km/h display range is completely f*d especially with current 15% error margin. Bonus will be the extra outputs e.g. boost from the ECU.

It looks like this in my Euro:

(notice how much better the normal speedo is)

Close up, you can output whatever you want, completely configurable.

OMG I want one! The crazy speed increments is about the only thing I hate about the Polo. I was hoping to find some sort of hidden trip computer function, and when I couldn't do that I tried to find something exactly like this. Obviously my Google skills are below par.

Their website says they only deliver to the US and Canada. Where have you ordered yours from?

Here are some pics of them installed hopefully these make it easier for u.

    (1) Here is the rubber plug in the firewall (front passenger footwell) u can run your cables through for the sensors. You are going to have to cut the connector plugs of the defi sensor cables and solder them back on otherwise u wont be able to fit them through the hole.

    (2) I installed my gauges in the tray on top of the dash, this is easily removed with a couple of clips on the side of the tray, get rid of the rubber lining in the tray and drill a hole in it for the rest of the cables. As u probably already know u only need the one power cable and sensor cable as any extra gauges are hooked up by a daisy chain. Once u have removed the tray u will see the pipes for the vents there is plenty of room to run ur cables down the side of the vents to the footwell where u will have ur hole in the firewall.

(3)As for the controller this was probably the most time consuming to install in the pic below u can see i have mounted it under the climate switches, if ur going to mount it here you need to peel back the rubber mat just above the ash tray and undo the 2 screws pull back that plastic panel and basically shove the cables through. you will notice there is barely any room there is a black box which gets in the way but u can pull ur cables through from the drivers side footwell from here u need to hook it up to a constant power and a accesories power and the dimmer switch so when u turn ur lights on ur defi gauges will dim in accordance with ur instrument lights.

Hopefully this will make ur install easier s1831559 (Next Page has them installed in tray)

thanks man, im planning to hav the same way. oil pressure, and temp on the tray, and boost behind the steering wheel. all i need is the wiring diagram. the rest should be easy. btw what are ur two meters? and how much did u pay for them?

Just order through the website They happily shipped it to me last time and Australia is on the drop down list; they do add a bit for postage though. I'll let you know exactly how much when I get the final $$$ showing on my account statement. I think it was around the $200 mark last time.

Accord Euro speedo is very accurate, only a smidgen off, but imo the perfect speedo is that on my GSXR600 - huge, fast updating numbers. Not quite getting that, small numbers will do.

The really cool thing is that the SG will report back what the ECU says, and then let you modify it up and down in tiny % increments. My Honda's ECU was almost perfect, however I added 1 or 2% as it'd make it round up rather than down. I.e. I don't want to be done doing 53.9 in a 50 zone - I'd rather it show 54 than 53. So you need a GPS with accurate speed output to calibrate this; my Garmin 2610 shows me e.g. 53.9 so that's perfect.

I'll create a new thread and report back once I get it into the pug, so as not to derail this one too much.

I have oil temp and boost on the tray, I paid $590 for the two gauges and defi controller II. Oh and i forgot to tell you that you will have to run the oil temp gauge sensor from ur sump plug becasue the defi oil temp sensor is huge and there arnt any sandwich plates for vw's that will fit such a large sensor.
You can get from Pirtek a sump plug and they will tap a hole and thread it for u so u can feed it in through the sump plug.
If you do it this way i have been told that it is a more accurate oil temp reading.
But if u do find a sandwich plate to fit tell me i really would like one as im looking at getting a oil cooler.
Ill be speaking to my brother soon and ill try and get a wiring diagram for u.

Yeah ill be interested in how this scangauge works. On there site i didnt see a option of letting u read boost?
And does it plug into ur OBD plug to read engine errors and clear them all from the unit or do u need to have software on a laptop like vagcom to do this ??
