Thread: Dealer Oil & Filter Change

  1. #21

Well i am trying to decide whether to do this myself or take it to my VW dealer.

Basically my VW dealer will do it all for $180 which i think is fairly reasonable, but am still trying to weigh it up.

My last jack died so I would need a new one of those, and would i have to get a special VAG Oil drain plug ?

And finally do you actually get a stamp for an oil change ?

Got the oil and filter changed at the dealer on friday. It took them an hour including oil & filter, checked and topped up all fluids including the window washer fluid, checked and tightened suspension, lubed door hinges. I was lucky the car was hoisted right infront of where i was sitting so i had the benefit of seeing the whole process. Also all that was surprisingly done by one of the seniors there. They also checked my tires and ended up lowering the pressure to the VW recomended Took and hour, cost $148, GOT MY FIRST STAMP and they got me a coffee while i was waiting to. Overall experience was good and id go back to them again.

    Angry

Hey guys, I called up both the South Yarra service departments for pricing on servicing and they both quoted me $380. Did you guys specifically ask for only oil and filter change?

I bought my polo gti from essendon volkswagen and so far, I've had multiple issues with them from their complete laziness with processing of papers and documents, not getting my customer loyalty discount cards (since the sales lady lied to me), not returning phone calls, not getting my roadside assist card (because they didn't notify VAG that they already sold the car to me) to servicing quality particularly in regards to damaging cars during the service process which just happened to me yesterday.

Well, after I get the scratched fixed, I'm definatly never ever going back to them. As far as I go as a customer, I have completely lost trust, confidence and tolerance for them. I'm usually a very tolerant and patient person, but after all this happening since taking delivery from them with some minor scratches and marks on the car on delivery day (which weren't fixed cause the sales lady gave me a whole lot of b.s. of it's a demo and wear and tear and "oh we can't fix that") to all this other crap, the scratches during servicing was the absolute final straw!!!

Sorry about the long essay...just had to get it off my chest. Just so damn frustrating. Hope this never happens to anyone else. I've been through this one too many times.

I know EXACTLY who you are talking about .... almost got stung by her as well. Luckily, I ended up buying from South Yarra, much cheaper than anything she could do and so far been extremely happy with them.

Sorry to hear about your string of bad luck.

Oh btw, welcome to the forums!

Just dropped Gti off for 30,000km service.
$470 they are charging me but includes an Oil "flush" as well as change. I assume this means "flushing" out the old/krusty oil not just replacing the oil?
    all fluids being replaced etc....
