    DD42 bushings review

Finally had time to get DD42 gear bushings installed yesterday. I already had Verdict bushings in already from about a month ago.

Good improvement with Verdict bushings already - I was quite pleased with it.

I now had DD42 for about 40km now. After installation, the adjustment had to be made to shift smooth. I couldn't put it in first after first go at install. This was adjusted by my mechanic.

It now shifts more solid, and 1st to 2nd shift seems to baulk a little less. It feels like a gated gear like the old Ferraris.

I do have to admit, that Verdict motor bushings made the biggest difference for me. They are all low cost items, and I think it's worth it...

I bought MK IV items and fit fine.

The mechanic thinks it looks very similar to MK IV item, and think Forge short shifter will fit too... hmmm...

Did you felt any vibration coming up to the shifter?

Just to clarify, the Verdict bushings are for the shift bracket and the DD42 bushings are the for shift linkage?

I've got an 07 GTi, are these the right parts?

i found the 42dd ones the biggest difference for me. i think there was some problem with my stock bushings because i used to have this weird clank noise when cold and shifting which has sine disappeared after installing the 42dd ones.

Plautos - I did not feel much more shake on the shifter after these upgrades.
kangfu - 07 model may need not my model, but Mk5 maybe. I am on a very slow connection so I cannot check your link.
jesum - did you also get yours intalled one at a time?

Overall, I think both are worth its reasonable price, but if you only go one way, for me I would go with Verdict.

Yes, I did them one at a time. The Verdictmotorsports one changed the feel but not as significantly as the 42dd ones. A friend commented that my gear shift felt quite loose compared to his when he test drove my car (this was before the 42dd ones but after the Verdictmotorsports ones). So there might have already been some degradation going on prior to fitting the 42dd ones.

Either way, both bushes combined with the pendulum mount bush (otherwise known as the dog mount insert) has changed the shift behaviour a lot and I am liking it very much. 4th to 5th is VERY smooth and I can engage it directly without having to move the shift from 4th into neutral before slotting it into 5th. 1st to 2nd is a lot more accurate than before.
