I was using semi slicks at 25psi...Was only doing a bit of a burn out to get heat into them. Ambient tempreture on the the night was 25 degrees, and 77% humidity.
Jasons is chipped mate mine isnt. Were you using your slicks??? how did you get heat into them??

cool here is a question for all the drag geeks . Polo has open diff, you drive thru the water and do a burnout. Effectivly only spinning one wheel what happens to the water left on the other wheel that isnt spinning. I would think it would still have moisture on the tire off the line and hence not give good traction. IS my assumptions correct. This is always what i have been lead to believe/ read/ thought/ found out for myself. Whats everyones opinion.
Blitzen did you drive thru the water.
I did try to avoid the water after my first run. I found when I tried to do my first burnout, my handbrake would not hold the car(I have found this before when I have attempted hand brake turns, so it needs an adjustment).
I was getting alot of heat into the tyres.
I had a long brake after my 3rd run(about an hour), then my last 3 runs took about 30 min, so after my 4th run, I had a fair bit of heat in the tyres. After each run, I had the bonnet up trying to get rid of some of the heat soak too.

cool, sounds like you had fun.......
but like me your times should be lower esp with slicks on. Just means you have to practice more.
Oh, I will be...And when I get to Townsville in a few weeks, I will be seeing when the drag strip there runs, and I may even look at doing the Mt Stuart Hill Climb in June Next year, either in the Polo, or in the Hill Climb car I am looking at making....I have the motorsport bug!!!
