mine is destroyed...being replaced at next service for circa 150 clams (not fitted cost!)
Hey guys, haven't posted here in a long time but I've managed to diagnose and solve a common fault on our polo's - the jamming retractable cup holder... mine was broken for over a year before i bothered trying to fix it.
The metal pin in the above pic bends and gets pushed upwards... which leaves nothing to click into the latch at the bottom end of the mechanism. i used some needle nose pliers to straighten the pin and pull it downwards towards the latch.... and it works again.
this is a common fault on the polos so i just though i'd share it... especially if you're out of warranty.

it must be the most complicated cup holder design in history...
I'm new here, and my polo cup holder is jammed shut, does anyone know how to get it open without destroying it so I can see if the pin is the problem

Head unit has to come out in order to unjam/remove it, girlfriends pog has the same prob

white button at the end of the slider mechanism may allow it to release, go back in.

Its an interesting mechanism. the engineer who designed it is prob having a good laugh over how frustrating it is for us customers
