    Creaking Noise

    G,day

my gti seems to make a creaking noise whenever the nose of the car either dips or rises (ie during sudden acceleration). the noise is really only audible at very slow speeds as the road noise at higher speeds washes the noise out. also when climbing the curb to my driveway the same creaking noise is heard.

the car has aftermarket control arm bushes and dogbone mount installed.

also on a different matter, does anyone know the part number or where to get the antenna lead which runs from the back of the stereo to the roof antenna?

    cheers...

could be the strut top bushes if you've already done the lower control arms. I've had my strut tops down under warranty, the car had 27,000kms on it. Apart from know that noise, I'm not sure how else to diagnose/confirm it. if under warranty, take it to dealership.

I too have the same noise, is it detrimental if you just put up with the noise??

How many KMS do you have Mattyf?

i have 65000 and it started about 2,000 kms ago.

I too have custome bushes and the car is lowered. It sorta sounds like the springs when it makes the noise but it dont think it is exactly.

I have the same noise, and new strut top bearings didn't fix the issue... I think it might be something to do with my lowered springs as it only started doing it after I fitted them... I have also replaced my sway bar linkages too... I am hoping that when I fit the new control arm bushes and coulovers that the issue will go away, as it annoys the **** out of me... Also, it only comes from the left hand side of the car.
I have had the issue now for about 60,000km, and thought replacing the strut top bearings would fix the issue, but it didn't...

Thanks for the feedback, i have it front left TOO!!!!

I wonder what it is... My mechanic although never looked at it sat in the car and reckons next time i come in he will lubricate the spring when it rubs and reckons that will fix it.

    WHO KNOWS..might just be it.

ive done around 84,000, and the noise has only come around the last couple of thousand k's.

it does sound like something needs to be lubed up, but i might have to pop in to my mechanic.

my noise dosn't seem to be coming from a specific side either

Grease your sway bar links where they attach to the body.

They'll look a little like these ones

if you are using aftermarket control arm bushes, i'm guessing they are PU units. you may want to re-grease them again.
