Started the car this morning, all fine for about 2 mins then the coolant warning light starts flashing. I turn the car off and check the coolant and under the car...No coolant missing at all. turned the car back on and no light!
Read the manual and it tells you not to drive the car if the light comes on and the coolant is fine...Now the manual doesnt say anything about the light flashing.
So anyone have any ideas on this?
Thanks in advance.

Is that when it's warm or cold? Mine sits above the Max line when it's cold.

Was there any dark stuff in the coolant bottle ? When the oil cooler in my Transporter carked it allowed oil to get into the coolant - the coolant sensor freaked out and I got the boing, boing noises, plus the scary stop engine, check coolant, imminent danger of nuclear meltdown etc etc messages. It doesn't take much oil to confuse the coolant sensor.
Also it was a PITA to get ALL the oil out of the coolant - needed lots of strenuous highway driving to get the engine hot enough to finally shift it all to the coolant bottle (the VAG flushing agent is obviously not very effective).

in my old polo when my coolant level dipped below minimum it flashed at me.

We always topped up bottle to the drip symbol on the side of the bottle, if your levels ok could be a dodgy sensor. Have replaced several under warranty. Cheers'
