How does one fully drain the cooling system for a coolant change/fill?
After my K04 install I obviously lost a bit of coolant in the process, and it's time to dump and refill the whole lot with some fresh G12+.
Dropping the bottom hose off the radiator gets a bit of coolant out, but surely 4 litres can't be all of it? Is there another drain point I'm missing somewhere?

I'd fill it with water and run that up to temp, then dump through the drain tap on the passenger side end of the radiator. DO that a couple of times. Unless you take the stat out you'll not get flow all through the block. 4 litres would be pretty close without tipping the car upside down.Originally Posted by Stuwey

Stu, it takes a bit of patience to get it all back in there to, keep running & keep topping up, but watch out for the pressure in the header tank, take it very very easy when undoing, otherwise it will just blow out the overflow tube.

Mine always burps a couple of times and takes another 1/2 litre.
The stat is a pain to get to behind the alternator and if you haven't deleted the secondary air pump, much worse. Ball ended 5mm allen socket is a winner. Make sure you have a spare plastic outlet on hand in case you break it.
