    Colour coded skirts and bumper?

    Hi guys,

Got the opportunity to get my side skirts and back bumper (the upper part of the black bit) colour coded (For free ). Do you think it would look good? I've seen it done on Golf GTI's but never on a Polo GTI. The car is candy white. I need some opinions. I love my car the way it is and dont want to spoil it but the opportunity is here and I'm not sure what to do...

    Thanks,
    SS

I've got mine done, but it's black so not as obvious as white would be. I just got back from washing mine so if I can find a camera tomorrow I'll take a few pics - I've been very lazy since I got it done and don't have any. I think you would want to get the front done too though. Having said all that, I quite like the black on white contrast.

My mum got her BMW done a few years ago, the paint is peeling off for the 2nd time. I definitely wouldn't do it. Mine black though, so it's not even noticeable.

If you get at prepped properly (which by the way is what costs the $$$ cos it takes so long) you wont have any problems. I specified to the panel shop that I wanted the texture sanded out, not just primed over, then they used a pretty heavy filler/primer and sanded that back too. It takes a fair bit to get it right for painting, so if it's for free I'd make sure they know their stuff or it will end up peeling, etc.

I dug this thread up from a few months ago for you too. From memory there was some photoshopping of a white one in there somewhere.

if you have the opportunity to get it done for free, i'd definately go ahead with it.

    Looks 10x better imo

I think it all comes down to personal taste in the end. It looks good but its a bit overdone in one colour, it would be good if you could break it up a bit with some different colour.

@vkswgn - pics would be appreciated mate.

I do like the contrast of black on white but the pics in the links look wicked. I think the colour coding makes the car look bit lower and makes it stand out the crowd. I haven't seen one done in South Africa as yet so thats a plus.

The guys at the bodyshop owe me big time thats why I'm getting it done free, they did mention sanding etc. They've done loads of local Golf GTI's so I'm sure they could handle a li'l polo.
