at this stage I'd say get your fuel injectors cleaned. You may have a crap spray pattern on on/ a couple. That could cause a miss??

-pressurised the inlet, found a dodgy boost hose clamp.
-replaced the MAF as I thought it was plausible at its age and mileage.
-scanned the car with vag-com repeatedly but not turned up any fault.

I'm at my wits end with this. Drives fine, goes hard (particularly after the new MAF) and it's generally behaving itself, except for this bloody rich fuel ratio.

    Clues, anyone?

    Anyone?
Do you have an AFR permanently running?

    Have you logged pulls in 3rd from 1500 to redline? 002 031 099, 003 020 022, 002 115 118. Log these and email me. 1 run for each group of 3.

I'd have thought at cruise those AFR's are correct. What's it doing at WOT above 3k to redline? If it's not in the 12's above 3500rpm abort the run before it goes boom.

You need vagcom lite to log. I couldn't log the required blocks with the free version.

I have vag-com, no worries there. I just don't know how to run the more technical 'logging' side of it all.

It used to run at 14.8 (ie, perfect) AFR almost all of the time when cruising but now is usually 13.6-13.8.

That's running richer, not leaner. 13 is richer than 14. WOT up to 3000-3500 rpm, those figures are good. Running leaner (14's) lower in the revs will aid in throttle response and nice boost onset. Depending on the tuner, mid 11's (rich) to mid 12's seem to be the go once full boost is achieved. Richer can make it a little slower, less power and less responsive, though results in lower EGT's. Subaru used to run em very rich from the factory to lower the temps, pulling fuel made em faster, though at the expense/risk of detonation from higher cylinder temps.

This is from the research I've been doing of late, which I'm open to being challenged on.

Connect to the engine, open measuring blocks, select the ones I listed above, hit log, enter a file name if you like to ID the run.

    Start.

    That's from memory..
