Second and Third gear syncros are more of an issue, but remember this forum is 100% people who are very sensitive about their cars, its a passion for everyone.

trust me, im sensative. If this stuff started happening to me i'd be worried my baby was falling apart!

the stock clutch is fine in a stock car , hell it isnt evan to bad in a chipped one,.......though adventually it will go the way of the dodo. the clutch isnt crap persee, just the car was not desighned for every tom **** and harry to go out the and get 200kw+ and expect the clutch to cope is all.

So it was the thrust bearing that failed first then causing clutch issues.

Still being repaired, waiting on parts, rah rah rah

I have a new, red, turbo diesel Beetle as a loan car. At least I'm no longer paying for a hire car.

I looked in the centre console when I picked it up and found a business card.

So three weeks later still waiting.

They have pulled apart the whole motor as they believe there is further engine damage (caused by the thrust bearing they think) and have had to send technical data to VW to see if they repair (and reapir what exactly) or replace THE WHOLE MOTOR!!!!!

There was some talk early on about this not been covered by warrany (which I would go to the ACCC about - there is no way they will get away with that) but that seems to have settled now.

Have I got this right, three weeks and they are still assessing it? I'd be well known to the dealer principal by now!

Yeah - originally it was replace clutch. Then they found it was also a bearing. Then it was waiting. Then it was head scracthing. Then it's dissassemble. Then it's waiting on VW.

But I do get the feeling there is A LOT of nothing much happening going on.

I don't want to hijack this thread but since it is (or was about clutches) thought it might be a good place to get some opinions.

When I push the clutch in and release, it has a series of clicks. Seems to be louder after a suburban run.

    Normal?
