My car is spiking to 22psi, settles on around 17.5-18psi and holds that to about 5000rpm where it settles to about 15psi from 5000rpm upwards.

This is a APR V1 tune with dump pipe, FMIC, BMC Pod filter, full 2.5 inch exhaust.

I have a Autometer Boost Gauge, it only reads to 20psi, but when it spikes, it goes a fair bit over, so Im calling it 22psi.

    Idle its 20.

Stock my car gets a little crazy, boosts up to about 14 psi, then snaps down to about 5psi and gets up to a bit under 10psi. I didnt really let the stock program learn properly, quick reset and drove it for a few minutes.. I think my mods upset it as it wants to boost harder and the stock tune just pulls the pin

Well done guys, plenty of fast moments ahead...

Now if you happen to work out how to keep the wheels on the road, please let me know.

I was driving through the city to pick up my boost gauge and on the slight incline at the lights UTS the car just smoked the wheels in 1st and 2nd. Its wasnt intentional. i just drove like i used to.. i guess im gona have to change my driving style now.

i have temp fitted the boost gauge but there seems to be a slight boost leak. after i tighten the forge splitter it held better.. The weird thing is the car drove hard all the way home with the splitter just after i got the flash but as soon as i fitted the boost gauge it just started to leak boost. Is it possible to have too many things attached to the vacuum system?

gauge now spikes to 18 and settles to 15psi

anyone else had a prob with the splitter before and after a flash?

Anyone had issues with the crappy gromet that the boost signal capillary slips into supplied with the Autometer boost gauge? I cable tied the gromet but since it's been chipped under hard boost it keeps blowing off, any solutions besides glueing the thing in? I also have a solution to the traction problem, don't use more than half throttle!!

can only agree mate ,start slowly then let her go, otherwise she just wheel spins. i evan find going to hard in 2nd gets a lil spin. not that im complaining

Do some people exaggerate when it comes to wheelspin?

My car has all the go fast bits and when it does come on boost under hard acceleration, the esp light comes on and there is some tyre squeel but its not like some people here describe. Like its uncontrollable or something.

Unless you take off at above 2000rpm its not gonna go ballistic on you.

Changing into second gear at end of first gear it wont spin through second like some people say.. Third gear it wont spin unless your in the wet.

Occassionally in 2nd gear the ESP light flashes away a little but its hardly crazy.

I dont know maybe coming from 500+ hp cars that really smoke them up and drift all over the place, I dont get too excited about the GTI spinning. Seems no more prone to spinning than any car with a bit of power.

Doesn't spin in 2nd you say? Oliverconnell's 1.6 with gti tread spins in second, well chirps anyway.

    I don't get much spin in 2nd.

1st isn't hard to get when it hits the near 3k rpm torque lump.

Its no fun with traction control off, and with the tramping its not much fun (and probably not that much good for the suspension and components).

Tried the traction control off in the wet the other day and the torque steer matched with loss of traction was crazy. Not turning the traction off again any time soon...
